Serious Games

Serious games are games which serve a purpose greater than raw entertainment. These are games which are not only fun to play but also help convey a message about our world, its problems, and possible solutions. Perhaps the term "games that are fun but support a great cause" is a better way to phrase it, though it gets a bit long. No matter what we call them, let's just call them important.

Tools for your great cause

The need for social services is escalating daily.  As we climb slowly out of one of history’s worst recessions, we see just how fragile we all are--a pink slip away from being a company’s cutback, a paycheck away from losing our medical insurance and even our homes. The bright side is that the growth of technology means news and information spreads instantaneously through the ease of social networking sites, blogs, websites, and mobile applications. What once took days now takes only moments. Technology is intersecting with grassroots efforts like never before, and your cause needs to be prepared to embrace these new tools or risk the chance of getting left behind. Twitter, the ever-growing social media bohemoth that allows you to update the world on what you're doing, recently launched a new feature called Lists. When I see new features like Lists, I always ask, "How can this apply to our clients--great causes--who are always looking for new ways to connect people to their organization's mission?" If you are your organization's social media guru, here are a few ways to consider making use of Twitter Lists.

Image of HiDef's new website

Over the past two years HiDef has grown in size, but most importantly, in vision and purpose as an organization. In the early years of the company we were happy to take on any project that kept power running to the team’s computers and covered a few coffees every once and a while.
