Greenspaces is a an environmentally conscious co-working space targeted at entrepreneurs and nonprofits who focus on making a difference in the community. Jenny Nevin, who left her Wall Street job to pursue a passion, started Greenspaces in Brooklyn in early 2008. Focused specifically on Green entrepreneurs, Jenny quickly saw the need to expand the offering, and in October of 2008 Greenspaces expanded to Colorado and opened an office in Denver's River Arts North District (RINO).
The Denver location functions as an office, art gallery, event space, and even a Church on Sundays. The space features a funky vibe of donated furniture, art, recycled and construction supplies all with wireless networking, conference rooms and all the things you need to do business. In short, it feels like a community, not an office. That's a good fit for our company's culture.

Greenspaces Denver
A HiDef Fit
While HiDef sees the value of working virtually, our distributed team needs a chance to train, socialize, and be a part of something we believe in: community. We have always valued face to face interaction, but coffee shops and bookstores can only tolerate so much of our boisterous collaboration. At Greenpsaces we get to be ourselves and give back to a space that shares our values, and that's important.
Getting Involved
In addition to getting the chance to colloborate with our co-workers, Greenspaces has provided an important opportunity for HiDef to get involved with new ideas. Being able to engage with other social entrepreneurs and local business makes a real difference in the quality of the work environment, and listening to their challenges and day to day demands makes us better at what we do.
Greenspaces isn't just a hip looking space to work, either. Once a month Greenspaces holds a Townhall meeting at the office and provide updates and introductions for everyone and regularly holds open houses and mixers where we can mingle with others in the community. Additionally, Greenspaces is host to regular business. For instance, HiDef is planning a seminar to help others in the office learn how to use some of the more progressive tools out there to promote your nonprofit.
In addition to being named Best Work Space for Greenies by the Westword, Greenspaces founded the Denver Green Route on Greenmap.org and has partnered with Greendrinks Denver, EcoTuesday and Redirect Guide.
Workplaces of the Future
What we like most about Greenspaces is that we believe the future of workplaces looks more like Greenspaces and less like traditional offices. The need to have an office with your co-workers has certainly diminished, but the value of having a workspace with peers and a collaborative atmosphere is invaluable. Creating this sustainably and effectively is not easy, and we're excited to be part of such a Great Cause.
